about the artist

"sharing music is a way to connect with others"

quick bio

Caleb Erickson is a Minnesota-based singer-songwriter, cover artist, and guitar instrumentalist who customizes his repertoire to suit any location, from rowdy bars to fine dining. He can energize an audience with face-melting solos, or make them shed silent tears with beautiful, heartfelt fingerstyle arrangements. Whether it’s classic rock, blues, reggae, folk, funk, pop, jazz, country, and everything in between, Caleb plays with an unbridled passion, pouring everything into his craft. His talent as a guitar instrumentalist is truly unique, using chord-melody techniques on popular songs from the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, and even modern pop hits, Disney songs, and traditional classics. Add vocals into the mix, one grounded in blues and rock, and you get an unforgettable musical experience!

why music

If there’s one surefire way to enhance the quality of our lives, it’s through music. Caleb has embraced this philosophy, trying to create harmony in every aspect of his life, whether it’s on the stage or in the classroom. Sharing music is a chance to connect with others, to be genuine, vulnerable, playful, creative, and to open our hearts to what we’re experiencing. Caleb cherishes every opportunity to uplift those around him, and considers music his best tool for the job.

the future

Caleb is currently on the road, looking to bring his music to venues all across Minnesota. His diversity of playing styles and encyclopedic set list makes him one of the most versatile musicians on the circuit. He plays bars, festivals, resorts, fine-dining, street dances, weddings, funerals, art galleries, restaurants, poetry slams, house shows, and the like. On top of that, Caleb works with four separate bands (Catching Clarity, Brock Beaulieu and the Bad Habits, Butter Rum, and Off Kilter) playing various instruments, crossing multiple genres. He released his first original album in 2019 with Supple Studios. With his home studio now in working order, a flood of new releases is underway!

music instructor

headwaters

I’ve been teaching at the Headwaters Music and Arts since 2005. Guitar is my primary instrument, but I’ve taught bass guitar, ukulele, piano, drums, and chess as well. My teaching philosophy is simple: I want to make your instrument of choice so delightfully entertaining that you can’t help but make it a lifelong pursuit. That said, I believe lessons are my student’s journey; I’m only a guide, navigating the musical terrain so my student can reach a destination of their own choosing. Since I play nearly every style of Western music, I feel well equipped for any direction my student wishes to take.

ruttger's resort

ruttgers

For the past two years, I’ve been the resident musician and performance coordinator at Ruttger’s Resort in Bemidji. I perform here 2-3 times a week, both in the dining area and bar. Playing for such a diverse crowd has been the impetus for expanding my set list. Patrons of all ages, backgrounds, and musical preferences have encouraged me to learn as much music as possible, tapping into nearly every genre. The added advantage for playing 2-3 times a week is a well-polished set!
